I apologise for the long silence. I’ve been sick since February, and just haven’t had the energy to stay up to date on all social platforms. I even had almost 3 months were I drowned myself in video games, cause I couldn’t focus on crafting. But here is a project I really am pleased to be done with! It’s kinda […]
I am at my first market! I have brought lots of plantdyed yarn, knitted hats and earwarmers. This market is with lots of others in the local handicrafts association, where we all work together and place things by category. I will be at 3 other markets the next month where I will be at my own table. Gonna be interesting!
Here is the result of last weekends dyeing at my cottage! All dyed with lichen and mushrooms that I’ve gathered myself. In total, 2225 grams of yarn. Most in 25 gram skeins. I am in love with the purple and magenta, my favourite colors. The lichen was in an airtight bucket for 4 months, with 2 parts water and 1 […]
Bunnymuff designs was looking for test knitters for one of her new designs in January. And when I saw them, I knew I had to make them! They had mushrooms on them! What could be more perfect than that for my mushroom-dyed yarn? They took a while to make, as I was sick for over a week, then the kids […]
I photographed all the handdyed yarn and added it to the “For sale” page! Here’s a little sneak peak of what’s there. Perfect as a present for yourself or another yarnlover you care about.
This year I took the step from dyeing with commercial dyes, to plant dyes. And that was so much fun, that I suddenly had a lot more yarn than I needed. Imagine that, huh? Strange. So, all these beautiful skeins are going into the shop! I just need to get the time to take photos of each one, and make […]
I recently finished this lovely pair of mittens, which will be perfect for the cold, autumn days ahead! It was a test knit for Pinneguri, and the pattern was published today. Here is my Ravelry project for the mittens. The pattern name is “Vottene Ylva, storesøster”. I knitted the mittens in handspun, plantdyed yarn! The yarn is a natural gray […]
So, I came across a post on Facebook a couple of weeks ago, about dyeing with avocado. The author had gotten a beautiful shade of dusty pink, and I wanted to try it out! I used my Google-fu to search up all the info I could find, and also scoured my groups on Facebook for tips and tricks. Some people […]
I have gathered this mushroom over time, and now I had enough to dye! It’s a very sought after mushroom for dyeing with, because it can give a nice range of colors, and it’s very lightfast. The yarn I used was pure wool, except one, that I don’t really know what it. But some kind of brushed alpaca. All the […]
It’s been about 10 years since I first started dyeing yarn and fibers, using industrial dyes and food colors. I always wanted to try natural dyes, but for some reason I thought it sounded like an immense process and way too much work to be fun. How wrong I was! It is indeed a lot more work to dye with […]
